Batik Indonesia Competition in the United States

The objective of this competition is to internationalize batik. As is known, UNESCO, since 2009, was officially crowned the batik as one of "World Heritage" (the Representative List of the Intangible Cultural Heritage of Humanity) from Indonesia. With the official recognition from the world body, now is the time how we internationalize batik. Through this event Embassy in Washington DC want to increase the appreciation of batik in the United States and encourage the cultural diversity of acculturation of batik in the United States. U.S. residents aged 16 years and over. The competition is open to the students, professionals, designers, and anyone who has an interest in textile design. This competition includes only design motif, and not including batik making process as a whole. The competition is nationwide (as the United States) with a batik design categories that reflect the typical American. In order to promote batik Embassy in Washington DC, and throughout the U.S. Consulate General, Chicago, New York, Houston, Los Angeles, and San Francisco will hold a competition to encourage the designers in the U.S. for American-style batik design. The launch of this activity is carried out by each RI Representatives in the U.S.. The launch was held in Washington DC on April 8, 2011; and in New York is planned on 20 April 2011, at San Francisco 29 April 2011dan Chicago May 19, 2011. Deadline time limit to join the collection of batik design competition is August 1, 2011. The entire event lasted until November 2011. The winner announcement made in San Francisco, November 2011, ahead of the APEC Summit in Honolulu. The jury will consist of panels from experts and lovers of batik in Indonesia and the U.S., fashion designers, and representatives from the textile designer. Of all the participants will be selected the six winners. The best three winners received prize Batik Tour to Indonesia and the prize money, three other winners get prize money alone. In addition, the winners will have the opportunity to exhibit his batik designs in Indonesia and the U.S..
